Reaching Nepal
As soon as the Covid situation improved in Nepal, I started traveling east to west at the beginning of this year. Brethren were devastated by uncertainties brought by Covid. We had never experienced such viral infections in Nepalese history, so it was a shocking reality for us.
However, God provided means to keep in touch through social media every evening, despite strict social distancing measures. Zoom enabled Nepalese Christians to be closer and work together in the midst of the pandemic. Even today, we meet every evening via Zoom to encourage each other.
The Covid situation has improved here lately. There are infections and one or two deaths a day with elderly folks. Catching this opportunity, I traveled around eastern Nepal in person organizing fellowship and Gospel meetings in January. I covered the whole Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, and Bhojpur districts of eastern Nepal during my stay. We managed to plant a new church in a place called Dhankuta. I am planning to visit them once again after a week or so to encourage them. However, my journey to the east has not completed yet. I am still planning to visit one more beautiful mountain district called Ilam, home to the famous Ilam Tea.
Before completion of this eastern trip, we got the Far-western call for evangelism. We had never visited Far-west before. Thanks to a radio listener-turned -brother (from the indigenous ‘Tharu’ community) brother Pardeshu Tharu has been organizing a study program with other radio listeners.
We spent a week bringing good tidings to the Far-west, which resulted in planting two churches. May God be exalted in this region. This is the first time Almighty God enabled us to plant churches here. We have the utmost trust in this new brother in Christ, Pardeshu Tharu, who can do miracles in terms of evangelizing western Nepal. Our goal is to reach out to lost souls and man-made churches. We have sown the seeds of truth in their heart. We believe that it will yield fruit sooner or later.
As this region is a bit far away from Kathmandu where we live, we need a strong faithful man from this region to carry out the work of reaching lost souls. We have a brother named Khim Risal, who left Kathmandu to settle in that region. I did visit him to understand his future plans. He is ready to work for the Lord in that region on behalf of our radio program. We need to pray for the needs and challenges he faces in that mission field.
Yesterday, I completed my journey to the west at least for a while, arrived in Kathmandu late night, leaving a brother Krishna Oli behind in the Far-west. He will spend a few a more days studying with people of other faiths and churches.
I will rest at Kathmandu for a week or so and travel back East to pick up where I left off. I’m looking forward to seeing the brethren in Ilam! Please lift us up in your prayers as we travel around Nepal continuously seizing the moment. Thank you for all your support!
In Him,
Pramod Dhakal
